Savoirs et fictions: vers une théologie de la posture érotique dans le roman anticlérical

ABSTRACT
Tout chercheur voillant approfondir l’aspect théologique du roman érotique anticlérical du XVIIIe siècle vérifie rapidement l’ observation de Robert Darnton selon laquelle la littérature clandestine de l’époque s’avère particulièrement rebelle aux efforts taxinomiques. Dans ce corpus, remarque-t-il, «les genres et les thèmes se croisent, se chevauchent, se recopient, se plagient à un point tel qu’on finit par ne plus distinguer un roman d’une chronique scandaleuse et un récit pornographique d’un traité de métaphysique». Toute tentative rigide de distinguer les genres ou types discursifs qui composent cet ensemble textuel pécherait par anachronisme et risquerait de rendre peu visibles les mécanismes culturels, langagiers ou (inter)textuels auxquels il doit son existence. Mais la difficulté pourrait être en partie levée si l’on prend au sérieux le terme de «livre philosophique», outil qui permettait aux lecteurs du XVIIIe siècle de penser l’homogénéité d’un grand nombre de textes disparates.
